Biography :

Claude Marthers III can be your navigator in the extremely varied real estate market in South Carolina.

Mr. Marthers is an indigenous native of Winnsboro, South Carolina, Fairfield County, in the ”Midlands” region of the state. The area is also known as the “Old English District”, so called because of the many English land holdings in the area in Revolutionary War days. He graduated from Richard Winn Academy and then received degrees from Wingate College, a BA in Psychology from Clemson University and is certified from Midlands Technical College for systems work.

Claude was in sales for many years and then installed and de-bugged 911 emergency systems for US Homeland Security throughout the Midwest and Eastern Shore. When family obligations required more immediate presence back in Winnsboro, he joined Carolina Real Estate Company and chose to reestablish his home in the countryside of Fairfield County. As a boy and young man, Claude spent hours and days on his antique Harley roaming the lakes, fields and forests of his home state, deepening his love for the land, its creatures and even the smell of a summer rain.

Given his countrified background, Claude fell naturally into a concentration on lake properties, recreational land used for hunting and timber properties. In addition, as a result of the expertise and concentration on historical homes and acreage that is a staple of the Agency, Mr. Marthers also has been involved with many such properties. Finally, significant time spent at his family’s property at Myrtle Beach contributed an understanding of the ways and mores of the “Beach Scene”.

Mr. Marthers draws on his Psychology background in discerning the natural inclination of clients towards subdivision or rural settings and is able to tailor suggestions to clients accordingly (As he says, “In real estate, one size never fits all”!). He also is able to draw on his “Mr. Fixit” skills in guiding property sellers in determining what steps are best to take in preparing a property for listing and sale. His hobbies include Harleys, dogs and spending time at the Beach (in addition to sampling an occasional Margarita with friends).
